JAMMU, Apr 12: Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not honouring his commitments and promises for the OBCs in Jammu and Kashmir, All India Backward Classes Union has appealed the community not to vote for BJP candidates in Lok Sabha elections.
In an executive body meeting of the Union, held under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Majid Malik, AIBCU reminded that on 1st December 2013, Modi had started his campaign for 2014 Lok Sabha elections with the promise to implement Supreme Court judgement on Mandal Report. And in a similar way he promised at his Hiranagar rally and subsequently in many other rallies but even after his ruling of ten years nothing was done for OBCs, observed the meet.
“PM never worked for granting the due share to the OBCs particularly for J&K OBCs, nor he directed for caste based census while Govt order for a separate column for OBCs before 2019 Lok Sabha elections was also withdrawn after winning the polls thus adopting a cheating method to befool OBCs of the country,” said AIBCU.
The meet said that J&K OBCs had great hope for their due share after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5th of August 2019 but a big fraud was done with the community as the Central Law on reservation to OBCs was not extended here.
AIBCU alleged that Govt added some groups like West Pakistani Refugees in the OBC category thus diluting and converting it into a general category.
AIBCU announced that it has decided to support the candidates and parties on basis of their credibility and hence the community would vote for Choudhary Lal Singh in Kathua-Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency and Jagdish Raj Verma for Jammu- Reasi Lok Sabha seat.
