JAMMU, Aug 18: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Majid Malik and strongly condemned the unconstitutional and illegal decision of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of grating 5 per cent reservation to Pahari speaking people by ignoring the State OBCs of due share of 27 per cent reservation.
The speakers said that if reservation can be granted on the name of Pahari speaking then Government ignored the rest of the people, who speak Kashmiri, Punjabi, Dogri, Bhaderwahi, Kishtwari, Hindi, Pogali and many others.
They expresses concern that the Government rejected the recommendations of the Pahari Board for reservation to Pahari speaking people through its Law Department last year, then how same can it be granted to these people, who do not have any legal and constitutional place. This is a treacherous move by the Omar led Government, which does not give any sense to the constitution, respect to the decision of the Apex Court and try to rule with the muscle force, they added.
They asked Chief Minister to rethink over this unconstitutional and illegal decision and grant due share to State OBCs otherwise his Government will lose all its credit for its another chance of governance as State OBCs can not tolerate such rulers in the State.
They appealed the State OBCs to join the rally to be held on August 24 at Polytechnic College and also appealed to the members of the OBC Advisory and Development Board to resign by shunning the shameless act to remain stick with the anti-OBC political parties.
Among others present were Raj Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Swarn Singh, Kabir Qureshi, Gulam Rasool, Sain Dass, Puran Chargotra, Prof Kali Dass, etc.
Meanwhile, a similar meeting of the union was also held at Srinagar under the chairmanship of AA Najar, which also condemned this decision of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
