JAMMU, Mar 18: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) has demanded the immediate revocation of the Government’s decision to dissolve the OBC Advisory and Development Board, calling it a severe injustice to the community.
In a meeting chaired by AIBCU chairman Mohd Latif Qureshi, members strongly condemned the move, highlighting the lack of OBC representation in the SEBC Commission and the absence of a functional advisory board. They argued that winding up the Board would leave OBCs without a platform to raise their grievances, violating constitutional rights.
The Union urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Central Government to reconsider the decision. They warned that if the order is not revoked, the OBC community will be forced to protest, which could escalate tensions.
Prominent leaders, including working president Lakhvir Singh, vice chairman Jagdish Verma and state secretary Mohd Rashid Fouji participated in the meeting and unanimously called for the immediate restoration of the Board for the welfare of OBCs.
