JAMMU, Mar 6: A deputation of All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) of district Poonch today met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her of the sufferings of the people of the State belonging to Other Social Castes (OSCs).
Kabir Qureshi, who led the delegation, urged the CM to enhance the creamy layer for 4.5 lakh to 8 lakh and also expressed resented against the Minister of State for Social Welfare Department, Asiea Naqash, alleging that for no reasons she returned the Income Slab file many times and delayed the enhancement deliberately despite directions by her (CM).
Qureshi also laid emphasis on the OBC survey, which, he said, has never been done in the State despite of Government orders in 2014 as well as in 2016. “This OBC survey costs nothing to the Government but ignoring this subject reflects the deep rooted conspiracy of the previous Governments and the present Government is also following the same foot prints”, he added.
The deputation said that till the survey is conducted, an interim relief of about 10% reservation is the urgent need for OSCs and Government must do it at the earliest, as 2% reservation is nothing but to befool the OSCs people who are more than 50% of the State population.
“Granting 3% reservation to Paharis on the Pahari Language and 6% on the name of socially and economically to upper caste is totally unconstitutional under Article 370 which is creating havoc in the State and rulers are busy in giving false statements”, the deputation members said.
The deputation further apprised the CM that appointment of chairperson and members of Backward Classes Commission were never made from among the OBCs and thus such appointments does not carry any sense.
The Chief Minister was appealed to redress all the problems of the State OSCs on priority. Those who accompanied the deputation were Mushtaq Ahmed Nazar, Dilpazir Razaq Qureshi, Mohd Sayed, Mohd Rashid Foji and others.
