PULWAMA, Oct 15: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) under the leadership of Abdul Majid Malik, president of the Union, held a one-day convention at Pulwama to deliberate upon the due rights of State OBCs.
The convention was enthralled by a large number of OBC people from Kashmir as well as Jammu province.
Speaking in the convention, speakers were of the view that the Government should not use Article 370 as a muscle force to snatch the rights of State OBCs.
They demanded the Government to implement their due share of 27% reservation in the State by way of Horizontal reservation to RBA and ALC vide Para 95 of the Apex Court’s Judgement of 1992 on Mandal Report, alleging that this formula does not disturb the existing reservation of any category including RBA and ALC.
They expressed surprised over the criminal silence of the coalition partners over the reservation of State OBCs in the BDC election to ignore the major chunk of people, whose population is 60% of the State population.
The other demands highlighted by the Union members were one certificate on the name of OBC, implementation of enhancement in creamy layer of State simultaneously with the Centre, abolishment of existing process of renewal of OBC certificate and instead income certificate should be made base in view of creamy layer.
All the participants were determined for speedy propagation of due rights of the OBCs at the gross root level for changing the political scenario in the State.
