AIBCU holds demonstration, demands implementation of MC report

JAMMU, Dec 8: In order to seek benefit of 27 percent reservations for OBCs in the State in accordance to Mandal Commission recommendation All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) held a demonstration in front of Press Club here today.
The demonstration was led by the State president of the organization Abdul Majid Malik in which a large number of the Union members participated.
Speakers lambasted the Government for arbitrary distribution of 27 percent reservation quota of OBCs among RBA and ALC 20 percent and 3 percent respectively while only two percent benefit is given to OBCs.
This is a deliberate act of the State Government to corner the OBCs, they added.
Terming it a grave injustice with the OBCs in the State, the speakers said that the successive Governments have deliberately deprived them of the benefits granted to them by the Indian Constitution fro their upliftment.
Addressing the protestors H D Betab chairman of the Union said that all components of OBC reservation are dysfunctional with an aim to corner 82 percent reservation to 15 percent population of the Upper Castes among Hindus and Muslims while Raj Kumar another activist of the Union said the reservations in the State for Upper Castes among Muslims and Hindus is 82 percent and State OBCs whose population is over 50 percent have been deprived of it.
Darshan Kumar State Secretary of the Union while questioning the Government’s  claim over accession of the State with rest of India said why the State Government is not implementing the laws passed by Parliament while making a reference to Mandal Commission report.
Prof Kali Dass General Secretary of the Union criticized the VC of OBC Advisory Board and accused him of misleading the public opinion on OBCs issue.
A  Najar, Puran Chargotra, Ghulam Hussian Sherojri and others addressed the demonstration.
Addressing the protest president of Union Abdul Majid Malik said that the Government was working only for the 15 percent population of the State while ignoring the rest. He said for the first time BJP has linked 370 with non implementation of Mandal Commission report which deserves appreciation. He said those parties who cheated the poor people of the State will be taught a lesson by the people. He appealed the OBCs of the State working in different political parties and social organizations to remain united under one banner of AIBCU.
