JAMMU, Aug 4: The two days 30th Annual Group Meeting of AICRP on Rapeseed Mustard concluded today with the plenary and valedictory session.
The session was chaired by Dr R K Samnotra, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu and Dr Sanjeev Gupta ADG; Dr R K Mathur IIOR Hyderabad Dr P K Rai, Director DRMR Bharatpur, informed that the action plan was finalized for the next year during the different technical sessions. The varietal Identification Release committee identified and recommended three varieties of Indian Mustard namely RH 1975 for timely sown irrigated conditions, DRMR 2018-19 for late sown conditions, PDZ 14 and PDZ 15, a double low quality strain of Indian mustard for different zones of the country, he said.
During the session, CCSHAU, Hisar was adjudged as the best performing main center, while SKUAST-Jammu, Chatha Center was named as the best performing Sub-centre among all the centres of AICRP (RM) of the country for the year 2022-23.
Dr R K Samnotra, Director Research and chief guest of the function, highlighted the importance of Rapeseed Mustard in meeting self sufficiency in Oilseeds at national and Union Territory level. He stressed that future research programme must focus on increasing productivity of food and edible oil crops to meet demands of the country for its evergrowing population and must match with similar rate of agricultural growth. He further stressed on generation of new technologies and climate resilient varieties for minimizing the impact of climate change on crops.
Dr Sanjeev Gupta, ADG (Oilseeds and Pulses), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, highlighted the importance of oilseeds in nation’s economy in general and Rapeseed & Mustard in particular. He hoped that research recommendation and action plan made during the meeting will help in reducing the dependence on edible oil imports by increasing the productivity and production in the country.
On the occasion, Dr R K Mathur, Director, Indian Institute of Oilseed Research, Hyderabad, suggested for research work on biomolecules like bio fungicides, bio pesticides for insect pest management. The vote of thanks was extended by Dr Pramod K Rai, Director, DRMR, Bharatpur.
