Jammu, July 17: The people of Jammu region had hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would announce AIIMS for Jammu during his visit, but it was not to be, said chairman of AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) and president of JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma, while addressing civil society members at Bhour Camp.
Notwithstanding the fact that PM didn’t announce an AIIMS for Jammu on Friday, the ACC still pins faith in him. The PM will not disappoint people of Jammu region. He knows it well that the people of Jammu region voted only for him during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Narendra Modi is a man of the masses. He feels the pulse of the people. He would surely dispense justice to the people of Jammu region, said Abhinav Sharma.
At the same time, the chairman of the ACC urged upon people of Jammu region to get ready for a mass movement in case the BJP failed to honour its written commitment on AIIMS by July 20. “We are responsible people committed to the genuine cause of Jammu region. The BJP had demanded time from us till July 20, which we gave as a responsible non-political organization representing all sections of society and interests”, he further said, adding “we will not refrain from taking recourse to methods, including call for an indefinite bandh, in case the BJP broke its solemn promise.”
Abhinav Sharma expressed the hope that good sense would finally prevail and the BJP leadership would implement its commitment in letter and spirit. He warned the BJP of serious consequences if it went back on its written assurance.
Among others who addressed the gathering included Rajput Sabha president Narain Singh, Panun Kashmir leader Ajay Churungoo, Devinder Singh Chowdhary, vice-president Lower Raghunath Bazaar Association, Dheeraj Pargal, Naib Sarpanch, Bhour Camp, Jagmohan Sharma and Sudesh Sharma.
