AIIMS Coordination Committee to intensify agitation from next week

JAMMU, June 6: The AIIMS Coordination Committee (AIIMSCC) has decided to intensify the agitation against the discrimination with the people of Jammu province ever since India got Independence.
The Committee which met at Chamber House here today under the chairmanship of Abhinav Sharma, president High Court Bar Association with one voice said that Committee will go to any extent for the honour and dignity of people of Jammu and launch a decisive battle for their rights, a handout issued Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is one of the major constituents of AIIMSCC said. Announcing the future agitation programme the meeting said the Committee will launch chain hunger strike next week, hold dharnas in front of ministers and MLAs’ houses as well as their gherao and if necessary Jammu province will go for an indefinite shutdown as has been done before so that the genuine and logical demands of the people of Jammu meet justice.
The meeting also decided that leaders and activists from political parties are welcome to support the Coordination Committee but not as a political party but as responsible citizens of Jammu.
The meeting among others was attended by president Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI), Rakesh Gupta, Senior vice president CCI, Sham Lal Langer, Junior vice president CCI,  Deepak Aggarwal, secretary general CCI , Arun Gupta, secretary CCI  Rahul Mahajan and Zorawar Singh, secretary general Press Club Jammu. The Committee reviewed the whole situation arising out of the indifferent attitude of the Government by not mitigating the genuine demands of people of Jammu. The meeting was also attended by all the constituents representing different trades, industry, civil society, intellectuals and social organizations.
During the discussions it was felt amply clear that the foundation of the present coalition Government was based on discrimination with Jammu for which the alliance agenda is a testimony.
The Chairman Coordination Committee Abhinav Sharma announced that district level committees be made as a part of ongoing agitation and he designated  Narayan Singh, president Amar Kshatriya  Rajput Sabha as incharge district Kathua, advocate  B.S. Salathia, ex president High Court Bar Association as incharge district Rajouri, Prof. Hari Om, senior  BJP leader  as incharge district Poonch,  M.S. Katoch, working president Jammu Provincial Peoples Forum as incharge Udhampur. The Chamber of Commerce & Industry will be the incharge of convening meetings with all districts traders associations at the same time.
It was also announced by the Coordination Committee that a Finance Management Committee to arrange funds to take this agitation forward and such committee comprising of  K.B Jandial IAS Officer (retd) and former member J&K Public Service Commission,  Pavitar Singh, District. & Sessions Judge, (retd),  president Jammu Provincial Peoples Forum  and  Sham Lal Langer, Senior Vice President Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
During the meeting two minutes silence was observed to condole the sad demise of  Jagjeet Singh at Gadigarh.
