JAMMU, Mar 15: In a significant step towards global healthcare collaboration, Professor Krishnan Raghavendran, a distinguished Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan, visited AIIMS Jammu. His visit marked the beginning of potential partnerships in research, academics, and patient care between the two premier institutions.
Professor Raghavendran was received by Dr Shaurya Darbari, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, who guided him through AIIMS Jammu’s state-of-the-art facilities. He recognized the Hospital’s Emergency Department for its efficiency and expressed interest in sharing advanced medical protocols developed at the University of Michigan to enhance patient care.
One of the key highlights of his visit was the Next Generation Sequencing Lab, which he praised for its potential to drive medical research forward. Additionally, he acknowledged AIIMS Jammu’s digital initiatives, particularly the integration of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), a move spearheaded by Executive Director and CEO, Professor (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta. He recognized this as a crucial step towards modernizing healthcare services.
During discussions with AIIMS Jammu faculty, Prof Raghavendran underscored the University of Michigan’s Global Outreach Program, which has successfully collaborated with hospitals worldwide, including in India and Africa. His engagement reaffirmed his commitment to global health equity and capacity building.
Meeting with Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Prof Raghavendran acknowledged AIIMS Jammu’s rapid progress since launching its OPD services in August 2024. He noted that the Institute’s infrastructure and vision align with top international medical institutions, paving the way for impactful collaborations.
The discussions concluded with a shared commitment to exploring joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, and enhanced patient care strategies. This potential partnership is expected to strengthen AIIMS Jammu’s global standing while advancing healthcare solutions for the broader community.
