Aijaz holds public camp at Arnas, reviews restoration works

Minister for Revenue, Aijaz Ahmed Khan alongwith DDC Reasi, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary distributing relief cheque to a beneficiary at Arnas on Thursday.

REASI, Sept 5: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Aijaz Ahmed Khan today held a public grievance redressal camp at Arnas and inspected various ongoing restoration works.
Deputy Commissioner, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and all district officers accompanied the Minister and  participated in the meeting which was attended by people from remote areas of the district.
Aijaz laid foundation stone of Revenue Complex at Arnas to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.80 crore and distributed relief cheques to affected families for fully and partially damaged houses, loss of livestock, cattle, cattle sheds and cultivable land.
Speaking on the occasion Ajaz appreciated the district administration for presenting relief cheques of 191 cases to the tune of Rs 22.50 lakh in record time of 5 days for benefit of aggrieved persons who lost their houses in various areas of two tehsils. Deputy Commissioner informed that further camps will be held at Pouni, Reasi, Mahore, Thakrakote, Katra, Chassana and other places for immediate distribution of relief next few days.
The Minister issued instructions for immediate blacktopping of Thanpal road, construction of new school buildings, bridges, restoration of PMGSY, PWD, RDD roads, irrigation canals and PHE schemes in a time bound manner.
A number of public grievances were redressed in the presence of Minister. He was informed that action taken report on all grievances of public including timely payment under MG-NREGA will be submitted by the end of month.
Later, in a meeting of officers the Minister called for bringing the area on tourism map and also announced Rs 15 lakh from his CDF for construction of hut at Daggan Top for facilitating the visitors to this picturesque remote area. DC informed that work will be executed through Forest Department immediately.
Expressing satisfaction over steps taken by DC for decentralised relief distribution, making available emergent cash relief at Niabat offices and stores and stocks at remote areas, the Minister asked for making a holistic plan under SDRF for strengthening the community preparedness and availability of equipment across the district.
