AIJMS reiterates OBC status demand

SAMBA, Jan 3: All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) on Monday reiterated its demand of granting OBC status to Jat community at par with other States and Union Territories.
Presiding over a meeting here at village Raipur Panchayat Pandgor, Ch. Manmohan Singh, president AIJMS said after abrogation of Article 370, the Government has ensured one law in entire country but still Jats of J&K are being denied of OBC status which the community enjoys in other States.
The meeting was organized by Sarpanch Reena Choudhary, AIJMS district president Samba in which a large number of women were also present.
Talking about the role of women in uplifting the society, Manmohan Singh said that non-participation of Jat women in public affairs has snarled community’s progress and therefore it is imperative that women should come forward and become decision makers to ensure upliftment of society and its progress.
He said that Jat community members are being denied compensation for their land which came under Ring Road and flyover projects.
Sarpanch Reena Choudhary appealed community women to come forward and extend all possible support to Jat Maha Sabha in getting OBC status.
Ch. Darshan Singh, BDC Chairman; Ch. Prem Pal Pala, S. Darshan Singh and others were also present on the occasion.
