JAMMU, Feb 4:  Ch Manmohan Singh, president All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) today strongly opposed the proposed move of Election Commission of India (ECI) to reserve Marh Constituency and change in status of Suchetgarh, which is unacceptable to the Jats of J&K.
In a statement issued here, the Jat leader said that the sources have informed about the move to bring the aforesaid changes in the aforesaid constituencies which are totally against the interests of the Jat community.
He said that the aforesaid constituencies have the majority of Jat Community people and reserving the same or changing the nomenclature is nothing but a big conspiracy against the Jats living in the J&K UT.
Ch Manmohan Singh said that if the Government will not revisit the planned move the same will cost dearly to the Party in power in the Centre.
“The ECI is planning to create a new border constituency of Ramgarh and is also in process of reserving the same, which is not a viable thing because there is a nominal population of weaker sections in the aforesaid segment of the existing constituency,” he said.
He warned the ruling Government not to play with the sentiments of the Jat community otherwise it will have to pay heavy price in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
