NEW DELHI, Jan 5: The first introductory Executive Committee meeting of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) was held here, today. The newly elected president, Ravinder Pandita, presided over the meeting. The general secretary, Sunil Kaul, read the welcome address and introduced the newly nominated members of the Executive Body. The president in his inaugural address put the perception of AIKS for discussion. Senior vice president, Vijay Kashkari presented a vote of thanks. The discussion was about the future planning and financial position of the organisation. As AIKS is an affiliated group, it is paramount that all the affiliates in India and the globe interact with them regularly and create a consensus on the AIKS vision. It was resolved to interact with them offline or online through physical and virtual meetings. It was also determined to review the AIKS Constitution because of the changing contours of the organisation since its foundation in 1980. The Constitution Review Committee will be headed by the former president and member advisory Col (retd.) Dr Tej Tikoo. Other points under discussion were AIKS Trust, the AIKS court case being pleaded in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and programmes of AIKS in light of the evolving situation of J&K. Members were specific about plans for creating AIKS assets.
The road ahead to mitigate the troubles of the community, which is the victims of repression, denials, violence, and greed, was discussed by the members who participated in the meeting. The milestones identified for the future programmes of AIKS for resolution will be: a precondition for return, the policy of political parties on Kashmir viz-a-viz displaced community, compensation to the losses, caring for those who are in the Valley, restoring of cultural legacy that includes protection of temples and shrines, creation of political space, and creating an implementation network with the help of the affiliates and associate groups.
Those who spoke in the meeting included MK Pajan, Kuldeep Drabu Members Advisory Committee, vice presidents, Dlip Kaul, Arun Shalia, Dr Usha Tikoo and Dr Anil Vaishnavi president KSS Gurugram, Asish Zutshi joint secretary and editors Naad and Vaakh, Sunil Raina Rajanaka and Roop Kishen Bhat, respectively.
