JAMMU, July 5: All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) Core Committee members held an extraordinary meeting to discuss the hobnobbing of some members of Kashmiri Pandit community with those who must shoulder the greatest responsibility for the forced displacement of KPs from Valley, preceded by the community’s genocide in 1989-90, has created consternation and revulsion in the community spread out throughout the world.
The Core Committee members took strong exception to the community members, representing none of the registered organisations of the KPs, to meet the Hurriyat leader in Kashmir. The members strongly condemned the statement of Hurriyat leader that they would like Kashmiri Pandits to be their voice and join struggle with him. It is reiterated here that the Kashmiri Pandits being the aborigines of the Valley, their return will be on their terms, not dictated by the forces of Kashmir responsible for the community’s exodus.
The members asked to remind, so called self styled leaders, of one Late H. N. Wanchoo, a Kashmiri Pandit trade union activist, who had filed a number of petitions in Jammu & Kashmir High Court on behalf of the terrorists organisations against the security forces, in the early phase of militancy in Kashmir. He was also reportedly acting as an intermediary between the Government and certain terrorists groups; negotiating to secure the release of their cadres. He thought that by taking on the new identity of a Human Rights Activist, his identity as a Pandit would be subsumed and he would cease to be a target of Islamists. His thinking proved completely misplaced; he was silenced forever on December 5, 1992, by the militants of Jamaat-Ul-Mujahideen.
The members, expressing anguish, desired, cautioned the Government about the nefarious activities of a few community personals with the secessionist leaders of Kashmir for their ulterior motives.
The members denounced the hobnobbing of these unscrupulous men with the forces responsible for throwing out the community from the Valley in 1989-90.
Meanwhile, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while endorsing the AIKS view warned the self styled KP activists of hobnobbing with the marauders of the community. KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri said Hurriyat is culprit responsible for the genocide of KPs and no KP worth his salt should forgive them for their barbaric role during the turmoil on the behest of Pakistan. Community can’t forget Wandhama, Nadimarg, Sangrampora and Telwani massacres for which the Hurriyat leadership is directly responsible.
Kashmiri said the conglomerate hobnobbed with the Islamist forces to ruin the Kashmir and erase the marks of ancient Hindu civilization from there.
