JAMMU, Apr 17: Prof Ashok Aima today took over as new Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu for a term of five years.
The appointment of Prof Aima as the Vice-Chancellor was made by the President of India, in his capacity as the Visitor of Central University Jammu.
According to an official communiqué, issued today by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India, the President of India has been pleased to appoint Prof Ashok Aima as the Vice-Chancellor of CUJ for a term of five years from the date on which, he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
Prof Ashok Aima, Doctorate in Economics, is a distinguished Scholar and Academician of national and international repute. Before joining as the Vice-Chancellor, he was serving the CUJ as Professor and Head, Department of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour. He is the Chairman/Coordinator Member of NAAC Peer Team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore since 2000.
Prof Aima has also remained three times Dean in the Faculties of Management and Business Studies of the University of Jammu.
Today, Prof Aima replaced Prof Devanand, who was appointed as Acting Vice-Chancellor of CUJ following pre-matured retirement of then VC Dr S S Bloeria, a day before attaining the age of superannuation.
