AIMCCC blames successive Govts for KPs plight

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 30: All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) today said that Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) are the worst sufferers for last 34 years of displacement due to wrong policies of successive Governments towards this hapless community.
In a meeting here, today it said there are some officers in the administration and some self styled leaders who have always been misleading Government for their self interests and harmed the community cause. The Government has no policy on permanent rehabilitation of Pandits nor it bothers to take the community into confidence in this regard.
The meeting said that how long this peace loving community which has made a great contribution to India’s aesthetics and civilization will remain in wilderness. It is unfortunate that Government of India failed to protect this peace loving community which was hounded out from Valley by the communal elements and Pakistani terrorists.
The Government failed to show its might to these gun torturing militants by restoring their homeland to these hapless people who are leading an exiled life in different parts of country.
The meeting said the people who own houses, agriculture land, orchards and other property have nothing to say their own after their displacement because of the follies of the rulers since 1947.
The community had now pinned high hopes in the present dispensation which has taken drastic steps in restoring peace in the Kashmir and breaking the back of terrorists and Pakistan but it is unfortunate that this Government has also ignored the hapless community of Kashmiri Pandits waiting for justice for last 34 years.
No facilities are provided to the displaced community and it continues to be neglected for the reasons not known, said Desh Rattan Pandita president of the organisation.
Other speakers expressed anguish over not providing one time package to over aged youth and demanded that the same be announced as early as possible.
It also demanded bettering of water supply in Jagti township as the water crisis have put the camp inmates to grave hardships in this hot and humid Summer. Besides, it demanded restoration of flour quota to migrants immediately.
Those who spoke included P N Jalali, J L Raina, O N Booni, Sunil Kachroo , C L Koul, Yogesh Chib, Surrinder Raina, Priya Dhar, Meela Misri , Santosh Hali, Veena Dhar etc.
