JAMMU, Aug 2: A meeting of All India Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) in a meeting at Durga Nagar today expressed concern over delay in issuance of ration cards.
The meeting which was chaired by Desh Rattan president of the AIMCCC said that ration cards as a routine are issued from April to April but in case of migrants they are issued in June or July with the result the ration for two to three months gets lapse and the hapless people have to suffer for no fault of theirs.
The meeting demanded that the process of issuance of ration cards be completed by March end so that the migrants do not face problems in future in getting the monthly ration.
The meeting while discussing the deletion of the names of migrant voters from the ration cards of nine municipal wards of Jammu urged the authorities to include the names of the displaced people residing in these wards for last over two decades so that they too can get benefit of the developmental process in their respective wards.
It appealed the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to issue the orders to concerned for inclusion of names of migrants in ration cards too. The meeting among others was addressed by K V Kumar, Anil Mehta, M L Bhat etc.
