JAMMU, May 10: All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) chief, Desh Rattan Pandita, has expressed concern over water scarcity in Jagti township and other problems being faced by the inmates there.
Pandita, while addressing the meeting of AIMCCC at Jagti today alleged that for last 30 years the Government has failed to solve the problems of the displaced Pandits living incamp as well as non camp areas and their problems like lack of electricity, medicare facilities, sanitation and shortage of teaching staff in schools is getting compounded day by day.
Rattan said the delegations of AIMCCC met present and previous governors many times demanding that an everlasting solution be found to the water scarcity problem of Jagti township. “We demanded construction of four bore wells to augment the water supply in the township”.
He said later the issue was taken with the then Advisor to Governor, B B Vyas and he agreed the request.
He said Rs seven crore was earmarked for the same in a meeting in which all senior officers including Divisional Commissioner, DC and Chief Engineer, PHE DC and AC Relief were present. It was informed that within week’s time the work on bore wells will be started but to our dismay no headway has been made in this regard, he added.
He said that there are some vested interests within administration who are not interested in settling the problems of migrants.
