October 8 is the Air Force Day. IAF celebrates it with usual show of power and efficiency to the satisfaction of the entire nation. During the wars with our adversaries ever since independence, IAF has shown its mettle. The truth is that IAF has taken big strides towards improvement and upgrading of its fire capacity. A variety of fighters, bombers, carriers, helicopters and other machines are now in its arsenal. The Air Chief has been very confident that if exigency demands, air force will be able to protect the borders of the country on both eastern and western front. This is for the first time that the Air Chief has assured the country of its ability to deliver the good. His address to the press in preparation of the IAF Day celebrations has put Pakistan in a jittery so much so that Pakistani Foreign Minister has quoted him, albeit wrongly, saying that Indian Air Force can undertake surgical strike to eliminate Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal. India has made large scale purchases to replenish air force with ultra modern air defence including the long range missiles. There is full justification for that as we know the behaviour of both of our adversarial neighbours is hostile. India has to be prepared for meeting the twin threat from its Eastern and Western neighbour country.
