SRINAGAR:
About 60 musicians today rolled out mesmerizing performances as Indian Air Force (IAF) organised a maiden ‘Air Warrior Symphony Orchestra (AWSO)’ concert at Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre along the banks of Dal Lake here.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and First Lady Usha Vohra participated in the AWSO Concert and also witnessed Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) at the programme.
Sqn Ldr G Jayachandran was the Principal Conductor of AWSO which presented its first performance in Kashmir.
About 60 musicians rolled out mesmerizing performances comprising Indian, Western and Bollywood numbers with the help of brass, woodwind, reed, string, electronic and percussion instruments.
Later, in the lawns of SKICC, a very accomplished performance of advanced drill movements with rifles fixed with live bayonets was presented by the AWDT.
The Governor and the First Lady highly appreciated the multi-faceted talent of the Air Warriors in displaying music and performing the drill.
Vohra interacted with the senior officers of the IAF and Air Warrior Drill Team and presented mementoes to the AWSO and the AWDT, an official spokesman said.
General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 corps, Lt Gen Subrata Saha, Air Vice Marshal Upkarjit Singh, Air Officer Commanding, J&K; Air Force Officers and a large gathering of families of Air Force personnel were among those present during the performances, the spokesman said. (PTI)
