JAMMU, May 16: All India Students’ Federation (AISF) today lambasted the State Government and Education Department over different issues of the student community, including degradation of education system in the State.
Addressing a press conference, National general secretary, AISF, Vishwajeet Kumar said, “The wrong policies of the State and Central Government has ruined the education system of the State and its is the responsibility of the progressive minded people to highlight this wicked eye of the authorities on the education system”.
He further added that privatization and commercialization of education has degraded our education system and the attack of neo-liberal policies on this system has worsened the condition in the State.
State president, AISF, Mukesh Parihar, said that in J&K about 3.7 lakh differently-abled children including 24, 879 mentally retarded, have been deprived of basic education thereby violating Article 29 and 30, according to which every child of age group 6-14 is entitled to get basic education.
Earlier, an AISF delegation led by its National general secretary and State president met with Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof RD Sharma and Director, School Education, Jammu, Simranpreet Singh and raised various issues relating to student community.
The issues taken up by the delegation include enhancement of number of regular seats in University of Jammu and arrangement of adequate staff in rural schools and colleges.
AISF also opposed the new recruitment policy of the State Government and the new pattern started by University of Jammu in JUET examination.
