UNITED NATIONS, Mar 3: Indian classical dancer and filmmaker Aishwaryaa R Dhanush will perform at the world body’s headquarters here on the occasion of International Women’s Day next week.
Aishwaryaa, who is a UN Women’s Advocate for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in India, will “celebrate womanhood” with a Bharatanatyam performance at the Women’s Day event organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN.
“Time to dance to a different tune. @ash_r_dhanush to promote gender equality with Bharatanatyam performance @un on International Women’s Day,” Indian Permanent Representative Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.
Aishwaryaa said it is her “honour and pleasure” to perform at the UN on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8.
A trained Bharatanatyam dancer and director, Aishwaryaa has recently authored a book titled “Standing on an Apple Box: The Story of a Girl Among the Stars”.
She is the daughter of legendary Indian actor Rajinikanth and is married to Tamil star Dhanush. (AGENCIES)
