JAMMU, Dec 22: Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Yogesh Sawhney today held a Nukkar meeting at Sail Jageera, in Aitham area of Jammu East to discuss critical issues with the local residents.
The meeting witnessed a significant turnout of residents who voiced their grievances and longstanding issues impacting the region. The meeting focused on various challenges faced by the local community, including inadequate infrastructure, unemployment, and a lack of basic amenities.
During the meeting, ex-MLA Jammu East Yogesh Sawhney emphasized the importance of public participation in governance and assured the residents that their issues would be taken up at appropriate platforms. The primary concerns raised included the poor condition of roads, irregular water supply, and the lack of technological development in the area.
Local residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the current state of public infrastructure, highlighting how these problems hinder daily life and economic progress. Sawhney called for immediate attention to these matters, urging the government to prioritize the development of basic connectivity and amenities.
Another critical issue discussed was unemployment, which has been a persistent challenge for the youth in the region. Residents lamented the lack of job opportunities and skill development programs, which forces many young individuals to migrate to other places in search of work or sit idle.
Sawhney pointed out that the government must create policies to boost local employment opportunities, particularly in sectors like tourism, technology, and small-scale industries. He stressed the need for vocational training centers and government-backed initiatives to empower the local workforce.
Sawhney also addressed the broader issue of development, stating that rural and semi-urban areas like Sail Jageera often get sidelined in the process of modernization. “There is a lack of basic road connection in this region, as I have also personally witnessed during my various visits here,” said Sawhney.
He assured the residents that their concerns would be escalated to higher authorities. He also encouraged the community to stay united and proactive in demanding their rights. People widely appreciated Sawhney’s efforts for providing a platform for open dialogue between the residents and their leaders, fostering a sense of hope and collective responsibility for the betterment of the region.
