Writes letter to Labour Minister

JAMMU, Nov 11: All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has taken serious exception to ban on strikes demonstrations of employees and workers in J&K.
In this regard Union national general secretary, Amarjeet Kaur has written a letter to Minister of Labor and Employment Central Government holding it responsible for issuing of order by J&K UT Government in this regard. The letter said “The strikes and demonstrations that you seek to ban are guaranteed as the freedom of Expression by our Constitution, you can’t overrule the provisions of the Constitution by your OMs”, the letter added.
The letter, while condemning the OM issued by General Administrative Department (GAD) of UT Government has urged the Union Minister to get the same withdrawn forthwith.
Meanwhile, president Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU), Mohammed Maqbool Ganai and its general secretary, Gurmeet Singh have also condemned the Government order of banning the strikes and demonstrations by the trade unions in the UT. They termed it an infringement on trade union activities which is totally against the Constitutional guarantees granted to citizens of the country.
