JAMMU, Apr 25: A working committee meeting of All India Trade Union Congress, Jammu Kashmir council, was held here under the chairmanship of Com Suresh Kumar Sharma.
The working committee meeting discussed various issues of the working class,  Government policies, which are not fulfilling the expectations of the workers, grievances and demands of the unorganized workers, senior citizens and retired employees.
The meet opined that the Central and State Governments have not taken any meaningful steps to curb price rise of essential commodities and to generate employment. Instead of universalization of Public Distribution System, the Government is trying to settle it through the inherently anti-poor targeting mechanism, the participants alleged.
The AITUC  also alleged that the whole range of social security measures were under attack while the Government was fast moving to demolish the existing labour laws thereby empowering the employers with unilateral right to hire and fire besides stripping the workers and trade union of all their rights.
The AITUC also highlighted the long pending demands of the working classes, like regularization of daily wagers, timely release of wages/salary, generation of employment in the State, etc.
On the occasion, Com S K Sharma announced to organize two-day conference of all trade union of  the State next month.
Others, who spoke on the occasion, included Parminder Kumar, Daleep Singh Bhatti, Kartar Singh, Farooq Lone, Rakesh Kumar, Chuni Lal, Kartar Nath and Ghulam Ali.
