Ajaz Jan visits fire affected families, seeks compensation

POONCH, Apr 20: Provincial president Youth National Conference Jammu and former MLA, Ajaz Jan today visited Sabjiyan area of Poonch district to take stock of the loss of property in a devastating fire incident.
While interacting with the fire victims, the senior National Conference leader expressed grief over the fire incident and conveyed his sympathies to the affected family members. However, he said that it is a matter of great relief that there has been no loss of life or injury to any of the family members in the fire incident.
The former MLA appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to immediately announce Rs 15 lakh per family as ex-gratia/ compensation to those living in the house that stands razed to ground due to the furious inferno previous night.
The National Conference leader also appealed to the Forest Department to provide dry fallen trees as timber to the affected families for reconstruction of their houses at the earliest.
Notably, two residential houses were damaged in fire incident at Sawjian area of district Poonch while the houses were completed gutted and there was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident.
Meanwhile, the former MLA also raised serious concern over dilapidated condition of roads in Pir Panjal zone. He said despite taking up the matter with the authorities concerned no steps have been taken to macadamize the roads.
The senior NC leader appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to pass on necessary directions to the authorities concern to take serious note of people’s issues and macadamize the road network across Pir Panjal Zone at the earliest.
