POONCH/ RAJOURI, Aug 22: All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) has reiterated its appealed to the people of the State and specially the civil society in Kashmir to come forward to help restoration of peace and normalcy in Valley.
The Forum during meetings at Poonch and Rajouri with civil society and prominent members of the area sought their help in maintaining communal harmony, brotherhood and peace in the region at any cost. The members said that it was the collective responsibility of all not to allow the flames of Kashmir turmoil to hit Jammu region. They said some anti-national elements and miscreants tried to disturb peace in Jammu region but the people did not allow them to succeed such elements in their designs.
The meeting of the AJCSF at Poonch and Rajouri were held on August 20 and 21. Hundreds of locals from all sections of society and communities thronged the venues. The meetings presided by KK Kapoor at Poonch and Gulchain Singh Charak at Rajouri, discussed with dismay the present scenario in the State with special reference to the unabated losses of human lives, tensions and paralyzed life in Kashmir valley. It was decided that a unit of AJCSF is being formed in every district. Its aims and objectives were also explained.
The Forum appealed to the Central Government to take immediate effective steps for restoration of peace in the violence infested districts of Kashmir. The members from Rajouri-Poonch in one voice pledged their whole hearted support to the Forum.
They resolved to denouncing violence in all its manifestations they expressed their serious concerns over the losses of valuable human lives of the local populace and the security forces. The Forum members appealed to the Government for immediate, effective measures to check violence and restore peace and save further losses of lives.
They also appealed to the Civil Society of Ladakh and Kashmir to come forward and play a pro-active and effective role to calm the situation, reduce tensions to help in restoration of normalcy. It was also appealed to allow functioning of civil secretariat at Jammu in view of situation in Kashmir.
