JAMMU, Nov 6: All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) today speak strongly against erection of barricades in front of civil secretariat and threatened of a strong agitation if there were not removed soon.
The issue was discussed during a general body meeting of AJCSF held here at Dogra Sadar Sabha. Members present, noted with great concern that the barricades have been erected in front of the civil secretariat and insisted that immediate steps are required to undo this discriminatory injustice and resolved to go to any extent to mitigate the avoidable uncalled for hardship to people of Jammu.
Re-iterating their resolve, they said that if their request of removing the barrier is not heeded then the AJCSF in conjunction with Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) may launch a strong sustained agitation till the injustice to the peace loving Jammuites is not mitigated. They said erection of barricades has caused great hardship to college and school students, pilgrims, women, the sick, the grieved carrying dead besides inconvenience to commuters, tourists, hawkers, rehriwalas and porters.
The members took strong exception to the delay in completion of various projects and wanted the RAPDRP scheme to be monitored for time bound completion. “The PDD has failed to complete the metering of localities and barely 50 percent metering has been done, thus causing power cuts for load shedding even in the metered areas due to uncontrolled consumption by the remaining 50 percent”, they added.
Earlier while opening the meeting, the co-convener, Abdul Majid gave a review of activities during the month of October. He briskly covered the visit by the 22 member AJCSF delegation to New Delhi and its deliberations with the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister, Manohar Parikar and MP, Dr Karan Singh.
Convener, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak apprised the meeting that a core group of 19 members has been formed for day to day functioning.
