AJHLA demands re-constitution of Tourism Advisory Board

JAMMU, Nov 23: All Jammu Hotel and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has expressed concern over nomination of upper class hoteliers as members of Tourism Advisory Board.
Addressing a meeting, Inderjeet Khajuria, President, AJHLA said that professionalism, experience and vast knowledge about the tourism have all together been ignored while nominating the members of the board.
He demanded immediate re-constitution of the Board and nomination of deserving, dedicated and professionals as members of the Board.
He also expressed concern over neglect of Jammu tourism from the map of State tourism, which will further deteriorate the economy of Jammu region besides causing a considerable increase in the unemployment.
Addressing a meeting, Inderjeet Khajuria, president, AJHLA said that after taking over as Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in his capacity as Tourism Minister has taken lot of interest in the promotion of tourism and consequently has convened a meeting, where besides stake holders from Jammu and Kashmir, tour operators from all over India were invited for participation.
Chief Minister’s main focus was on promotion of tourism at Patnitop, Bhaderwah, Ranjit Sagar Dam at Basholi and promotion of Mantalai as International Yoga Center.
Later on number of meetings convened by the Chief Minister, Deputy CM, Commissioner Tourism, Director Tourism and the statements issued on the promotion of tourism always remained confined to promote Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Srinagar Airport including Dal Lake as International tourism besides introducing Patnitop, Bhadarwah, Mantalai and Ranjit Sagar Dam in Jammu region, maintaining silence about maintaining the Jammu district tourism development, he said.
He added that the statements issued by the Government always gave an indication of the timely completion of projects but never marked the time limit or the date of completion, which in itself is keeping the people in dark. Recently, the Government had invited about 50 representatives of tour operators of national repute with directions to visit Patnitop, Bhaderwah and Kashmir for promotion of tourism. The team visited Patnitop, Bhaderwah and left for Kashmir, without visiting any other tourist spot of Jammu district.
Among others present were Pawan Gupta, HS Manhas, Baldev Raj, Sunil Suri, ML Sharma, Bikram Singh, Gurdarshan Singh, Anil Khajuria, Kamal Kishore, Pritam Sharma and Swaran Singh.
