JAMMU, May 6: All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association (AJKPA) has decided to go on strike from May 8 to get their demands fulfilled.
The decision was taken in a meeting of AJKPA, which was chaired by Senior State Vice President Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai.
The meeting was attended by all the members of the State body of Jammu Province and all the members of Provincial Body Jammu Province led by Mohammad Farooq Malik, Provincial President AJKPA and all the district presidents of Jammu Province.
While speaking, the speakers including District Presidents and other members in their speeches laid emphasis on the genuine demands of the association. They added that the Patwar fraternity suffered a lot due to the negligent and callous attitude of the Government towards their demands including grade pay, stop direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, DPC of patwaries and girdawars and creation of girdawar circle.
While speaking, Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai in his address said that the Apex Body has already given a token strike, which was called off only after the Revenue Minister assured that their demands will be fulfilled.
“Apex Body met Finance Minister several times and even the Chief Minister and other Ministers and apprised them with the legitimate and genuine demands of the Association. Each time, they assured us to fulfill all the demands, but till date nothing has been done”, he added.
He stated that despite lapse of two and half months after the strike was called off, the Government has not fulfilled the demands of the Association.
“Keeping in view the callous attitude of the Government, AJKPA will go on strike from May 8 to get the demands fulfilled and responsibility of which will lie on the Government”, Ganai informed.
