AJKPC celebrates implementation of 73rd Amendment

JAMMU, Feb 14: Panchs and Sarpanchs from different blocks of the State today celebrated the implementation of 73rd Amendment of Indian Constitution in the State Panchayati Raj Act.
The jubilant Panchayat members assembled  near the Press Club Jammu and took out a victory procession amidst drum beating and raising of slogans in favour of AJKPC leaders and implementation of 73rd Amendment.
Earlier a conference-cum-celebration program was organized by AJKPC during which the participants gave credit for the 73rd Amendment to AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi who forced the State Government to implement this public friendly Act in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafiq Mir, chairman of AJKPC, said that it was a historic development in the State of Jammu and Kasmir with far reaching results. This development has paved the way for other public friendly Central Acts to get implemented in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Anil Sharma, president AJKPC said that in this landmark development, the role of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi would be remembered in the history of Jammu and Kashmir  as and when Panchayati Raj Act will be debated.
During the conference all AJKPC members also resolved to continue their movement for the rights and welfare of Panchayat members and strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Others who spoke on this occasion, included  Vimla Devi,  Kulbushan Khajuria,  Gautam Singh Jamwal,  Raj Kumar,  Alam Chaudhary,  Sukh Dev Singh, Fayaz Ahmed Khanday, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, Bindoo Chaudhary, Captain Raj Dev, Kavita Devi, Sushma Devi, Sardar Gurbachan Singh and  Raj Dev Singh.
