AJKPC seeks release of lapse funds for development of Panchayats

UDHAMPUR, Apr 18: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference today appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting Jammu on April 24, to release lapse funds of last three years for initiating development works in Panchayats.
Addressing a press conference here today, vice president of the Association Hans Raj Thakur said that during the financial year 2021-22 about 60 percent funds of the Capex budget of PRIs grants has been lapsed. He said they repeatedly appealed the LG Administration in this connection but no action has been taken till date.
“We appeal the Prime Minister of India to intervene in the matter and release the lapsed funds,” he said while adding that the funds of 14th Finance Commission 2019 -20 and 15th Finance Commission 2020- 21 and 2021-22 should be released immediately so that development works can be done in every panchayat of J&K.
Thakur further demanded that the tendering process should be stopped in panchayats for the works up to Rs 3 lakh which is also clear cut violation of Panchayati Raj Act.
Others present in the press conference were Sarpanch Koshal Kumar, Sarpanch Krishan Singh, Sarpanch Des Raj, Sarpanch Kuldeep Kumar, Baldev Singh and Jarnail Singh.
