JAMMU, Sept 5: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today evening took out a “Mashaal Rally” to express its resentment against the selling of adulterated milk products, supply of contaminated drinking water through taps and filthy drains in all municipal wards of Jammu city.
The “Mashaal rally” was taken out to wake-up officers concerned from their slumber and show them light so that they serve the people in a better way for which they are being paid for.
Led by the UT president of AJKPC Anil Sharma, scores of local bodies and PRI members raised slogans for better basic facilities to the city residents.
“The adulteration of milk, curd and other milk products has increased several times due to inaction on the part of officers concerned. Consumption of this adulterated milk can cause serious health issues and it actually acts as a slow poison for the people. The issue needed a strict and swift action but authorities preferred to overlook the subject matter for reasons best known to them,” Sharma said while addressing the gathering.
He also took on the officers for supply of contaminated drinking water through taps in different parts of Jammu city and demanded immediate corrective measures to ensure regular supply of clean water.
“There have been large complaints of dirty tap water from almost all municipal wards within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). The civic body should immediately start repairing and replacement of old and worn-out water pipes so that the people are provided clean water supply,” the AJKPC leader said.
Sharma also highlighted the issue of filthy lanes and drains within municipal limits, and demanded that the present situation belies the claims of civic body on the sanitation being carried out in the city limits.
“We request the UT Administration to seriously look into the present mess prevailing in the city limits and demand that the repair of filthy drains should be carried out without wasting any time,” the AJKPC leader said.
