JALANDHAR, Dec 8: Phagwara police have arrested one Akali Dal (B) councilor from Phagwara for killing Vijay kumar alias Vicky in a firing during the Viana riots in 2009. Councillor Balbir Singh Bittu was handed over to the Jalandhar police who is investigating the Vicky murder case. It produced him magistrate Anuradha who had sent him before in judicial custody for 14 days. Police said Vickey was killed in a firing during the riots erupted at Jalandhar after the murder of sant Ballan Wale in May 2009 at Viana. A case was registered against Balbir and BSP activist Nathpal in this connection. Nathpal had already been arrested and is in the jail. (UNI)
