JAMMU, Oct 5: In connection with the celebration of Asuj Navratras, Akhand Jyoti of Mata Chandi (Machail Wali) was lit today amid religious rituals and chanting of hymns at Chandi Bhawan located in the premises of Shri Mata Lakshmi Mandir Pacca Danga Jammu.
The Jyoti was lit by Dr Deshvir Singh Jamwal in the presence of Sanstha members and other devotees.
During Navratras Mandir will remain open throughout night for Darshan of Akhand Jyoti and getting blessing of Mata Chandi.
On the day of Ashtami, Chandi Hawan will be performed from 9 a m with Puran Ahuti and Kanjak (Kanya) Poojan at 12 noon.
On Navami (October 13, 2013), the Akhand Jyoti will be immersed in the pious water of Surya Putri Tawi near Panjtirthi at 8 a m.
Special kirtan /bhajan will be performed from 6 p m to 8 p m during the Navratras days.
