JAMMU, Mar 23: BJP Jammu & Kashmir president Sat Sharma underscored the historic and cultural significance of Akhnoor while addressing a well-attended organizational meeting in the district. The meeting, organized by district president Kuldeep Sharma, brought together prominent BJP leaders and party workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma highlighted Akhnoor’s deep-rooted connections to the Pandavas and the sacred Bhagirathi River, emphasizing its spiritual and historical importance. “Akhnoor is not just a land of faith but also of valour and sacrifice,” he said, referring to legends that link the Pandavas’ exile to the region.
Sharma also paid tribute to patriots who sacrificed their lives for the honour of the tricolour in J&K. He lauded the unwavering spirit of nationalists who resisted divisive forces and worked for the nation’s unity. “Their sacrifices remind us of our duty to uphold the honour and integrity of India. We must ensure their dream of a strong, united, and progressive J&K is fulfilled,” he stated.
Highlighting the revocation of Article 370, Sharma described it as a historic move that ended years of discrimination against several communities, including West Pakistani refugees, Valmiki Samaj, Gorkhas, and women, who were earlier denied fundamental rights. “Today, they stand empowered with equal rights and opportunities as every Indian citizen,” he affirmed.
Local MLA Mohan Lal applauded the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Central Government, noting significant improvements in infrastructure, economic growth, and governance. District president Kuldeep Sharma urged party workers to strengthen the BJP’s presence in Akhnoor and ensure that good governance benefits every household.
The meeting saw participation from key leaders, including ex-MLA Rajeev Sharma, district general secretary Ajay Singh, district prabhari Brijeshwar Rana, DDCs Pt Suresh Sharma and Bhushan Bral, former VC Daljeet Singh, and other senior BJP leaders. Ajay Singh conducted the proceedings, while various leaders addressed the gathering.
