JAMMU, Mar 4: All Kashmiri Muslim Migrants Committee (AKMMC), Jammu today organized a protest demonstration for immediate release of cash relief to the Kashmiri migrants including Muslims, Sikhs and Pandits.
Scores of Kashmiri Muslims, Sikhs and Pandits today assembled in front of the office of the Commissioner, Relief and Rehabilitation and staged ‘dharna’. They raised slogans in support of their demand of immediate release of cash relief.
The protesting migrant community members alleged that former Commissioner of Relief and Rehabilitation has stopped cash relief of about 1251 ration card holders in unauthorized way on verbal orders. They said though there was no Government circular in this regard yet their cash relief was stopped.
AKMMC president, Nazir Ahmed Lone said that High Court has ordered status quo in the matter but Commissioner of Relief and Rehabilitation is only adopting delaying tactics and making just false promises. He blamed zonal and other officers for misguiding the Commissioner and delaying release of their cash relief.
Stating that due to undue stoppage of cash relief Kashmiri migrant community is facing livelihood problems, Nazir Ahmed Lone appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene personally and release the cash relief to the migrant community immediately.
