Al-Badr militant arrested, IED defused

SRINAGAR, Dec 13: Security forces today arrested a militant associate of Al-Badr in South Kashmir Pulwama district today.
A police spokesman said that Police in Pulwama along with 55RR of Army and CRPF at a joint checkpoint established at Bandzoo Crossing arrested an active militant associate of Al-Badr and recovered incriminating materials, arms, ammunition including a pistol from his possession.
The police spokesman identified him as Yawar Bashir Dar son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Arigam Pulwama. A case (FIR No. 358/2022) has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and further investigation is in progress
In the meantime, a Bomb Disposal Squad diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) after it was detected by security forces in Tulibal area of Sopore town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district this morning.
An official said that police along with Army’s 52 RR and CRPF detected an IED on Sopore – Kupwara bypass road at Tulibal in Sopore town. He said that traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted in the area.
A Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to spot and destroyed the IED without causing any harm.
He said a case has been registered and investigation has been set into motion.
