Alert on eve of Modi oath

JAMMU, May 23: Intelligence agencies have sounded an alert along the Line of Control (LoC) following reports that the militants could attempt to infiltrate and strike on the eve of Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi’s oath ceremony on May 26 especially if Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or his emissary joins the ceremony.
Official sources said Army and BSF were already maintaining high alert along the LoC and International Border (IB) respectively keeping strong vigil on movement of the infiltrators. During past few days, militants have made a number of infiltration attempts to enter into this side from LoC in Poonch and Rajouri districts. However, all such infiltration attempts were foiled.
There had been Intelligence reports that the militants could try to sneak in on the eve of oath ceremony of Modi and his team to carry out terror attacks.
Meanwhile, an aircraft of International Thai Airlines (ITA) reportedly flew over Indian territory briefly over Suchetgarh sector along the IB in RS Pura sector at 9.30 am today.
Sources, however, denied any airspace violation.
They said route of the aircraft had been diverted.
