JAMMU, July 17: Police has arrested all the seven accused in a murder case of a man in Gharota area on city outskirts.
Addressing a press conference here today, SP Rural Suram Singh, said that on July 3, three persons namely Tarsem Singh and Pawan Singh, both sons of Surinder Singh and Dhananter Singh son of Tej Singh, all residents of Ranjan, came at Rakesh wine shop at Ranjan, set it on fire with the help of petrol and attacked the wine shop employees with sword.
He said in the incident, 3 persons present in the shop namely Ankur Rajput, Pritam Chand and Sahil Rishi received burn injuries. All the injured including one nearby shopkeeper were shifted to GMC Jammu from where two persons were later on shifted to DMC Ludhiana.
“In this connection, a case FIR No 45/2019 u/s 147,148,436/307/120-B/RPC 4/25 A Act was registered at police station Gharota and during investigation, involvement of seven accused persons surfaced in the commission of the crime after which a team led by myself and Ajay Sharma, SDPO Akhnoor immediately started investigation,” the officer added.
He said later on, one victim namely Ankur Rajput succumbed at DMC Luthiana and accordingly Section 302 RPC was added to the offences. A number of raids were conducted at various places within Jammu and other districts besides seeking the cooperation of locals to nab the culprits.
While one of the accused namely Tarsem Singh was arrested on the same day, Dhanantar Singh, Anil Kumar, Pawan Singh and Vijay Singh were also arrested later on. Sixth accused, Jaggater Singh was arrested on July 9 from SMVD University Road, Katra and after hectic efforts by police teams, seventh accused, Janak Raj was arrested on July 16 from the area of police station Gund, district Ganderbal (Kashmir).
During the investigation of the case, 4 Motorcycles and one sword were also seized.
