SAMBA, Oct 5: All Department Daily Wagers United Front today protested in Samba in support of their long pending demands. The protestors raising slogans urged the Government to settle their demands at the earliest failing which they will be forced to intensify the agitation.
Kulbushan Singh president of the Forum said that the demands of daily wagers are being ignored. Many Governments have come and gone, even the formation of a Centrally Union Territory has not benefited the daily wagers whose position has gone from bad to worse, he added. He said the daily wagers are demanding justice. The daily wagers working in various departments should be regularised, the Minimum Wages Act should be implemented, 60 months’ arrears of wages should be given soon and one member of the family of the Daily Wagers who died in harness should be given a job.
Kulbushan Singh, said that if the demands were not met soon, the protests would be forced to intensify agitation and the Government will be responsible for that. He said they can’t tolerate more injustice as this daily wagers are sincerely rendering their services in various departments for many years, but the Government has not paid any attention to their demands and till date which ahs generated a lot of resentment among them.
Besides Kulbushan Singh others who joined the protest included, Rakesh Kumar, Fakir Chand, Ranjit Singh, Subhash Singh and Man Singh etc.
