LEH, June 9: Terming inaugural of “All India Painting Camp” a historical development, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Rigzin Spalbar said that this would bring Leh into the limelight.
He said this while addressing a gathering of nationally known painters, who were going to participate in the 7-day long All India Painting Camp organised by J&K Academy of Art Culture and Language.
Offering all help to JKAACL, CEC said that LAHDC would keep on supporting such initiatives, which are aimed at promotion of indigenous art forms.
As many as 17 artists from across India are participating in the camp, which would culminate on June 15.
Those who were going to be the part of the camp included Mohd Yousuf and Sridar Iyer from Bhopal, Sangeeta Gupta and Kavita Iyer from New Delhi, Suneel Ghildial and Vidya Sagar Uphadhay from Jaipur, KK Gandhi, Bhushan Kesar and Harsh Vardhan from Jammu, Vinod Sharma from Mumbai, Tahin from Kolkata, Aftab Ahmed, Masood Tabish Naqshbandi from Srinagar, Mohd Akram Khan from Reasi, Ghulam Mustafa Dragon and Phunchok Gilik from Leh.
Khalid Bashir Ahmed, secretary, JKAACL, said that the art works, which would be painted during the camp, will be put on display on the culminating day.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Special Officer for Cultural Activities, Leh, Tsewang Paljor, said that such camp would help them get exposed to various shades of performing arts.
The camp is being coordinated by Academy’s Exhibition Officer, Parvez Akhtar, while as the inaugural day proceedings were moderated by Dr Thupstan Norboo.
Among others present were Morup Namgyal, Councilors Pyhyang and Tigger Nubra, president LTO, Mipham Otsal, president Ladakh Cultural Forum, Tsering Nurboo, scholars, zainul Abiding, director LEHO, Dr Mohd Din and convener IALS, Motup.
