Arrangements for annual Jhiri Mela reviewed

JAMMU, Nov 21: Marking a significant breakthrough, all land issues pertaining to the expansion of Jammu Airport have been successfully resolved. Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, chaired a meeting today, directing the Airport Authority Jammu to initiate the long-awaited project.
During the meeting, it was revealed that the majority of the required land has already been provided to the Airport Authority. Land with few structures of Animal Husbandry at Belicharna was pending. The Director of Animal Husbandry reported that the remaining structures on the pending land are now vacant, paving the way for the smooth execution of work.
To ensure a seamless execution of the prestigious project, the Divisional Commissioner instructed the Director of Animal Husbandry to formally hand over the remaining land to the Airport Authority.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Director Animal Husbandry Shubhra Sharma and Director Airport S K Garg and other concerned officers.
Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners through video conferencing to review the stamp duty rates revision.
He directed Deputy Commissioners to hold meetings of District Level Committees and send proposals to Divisional level committee for finalization of revised stamp duty rates of immovable property.
VC JDA, DC Stamps, Director Agriculture, Chief Engineer Irrigation besides officers of Forest, Revenue and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner chaired a meeting to review the arrangements being put in place by different departments for annual Jhiri Mela 2023.
The arrangements discussed in the meeting mainly included sanitation, uninterrupted electricity, ensuring of regular and safe drinking water, security arrangements, adequate stocks of ration, provision of health facilities, mobile toilets, accommodation for the devotees, deployment of fire tenders at the venue.
The Div Com emphasized on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in and around the vicinity during Jhiri Mela and directed the concerned departments to place dustbins in and around the temple.
The R&B Department was asked to complete the blacktopping and up-gradation work of approach roads to Jhiri well before commencing of the Mela. Jal Shakti Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted water supply with provision for additional water tanks at Langer sites.
The Div Com also directed the line departments to install their departmental stalls to disseminate awareness about Government schemes especially among the farmers.
Inquiring about the cultural programmes, the Div Com directed Secretary JKAACL and Director Tourism to make all necessary arrangements for the same.
The Div Com also reviewed in detail traffic arrangement and instructed concerned officers to formulate a traffic management plan well before the Mela for smooth flow of traffic.
