NEW DELHI: He has established a niche for himself in comic roles in Bollywood with films like ”Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’, ‘Dhamaal’, ‘All the Best: Fun Begins’ and ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’. Sanjay Mishra, who will now be seen playing a key role in the film ‘Jabariya Jodi’, says that for him all his roles are special.
”I think all roles are special to me I choose a particular role as special. I try to make every role a special one,” Mishra told UNI in an interview. Speaking about his role in ‘Jabariya Jodi’, Mishra said he plays the role of the father of actress Parineeti Chopra in the film. ” Jabariya Jodi is a comedy film, which is a middle class family drama based in a small town. I’m playing the role of father of Parineeti Chopra.
The character I’m playing is a very simple middle class man like all middle class fathers,” the actor said. From his debut in the 1995 film ‘Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!’ to his latest film ‘Jabariya Jodi’, Sanjsy mishra has come a long way having played a variety of characters in all his films. Asked as to how cinema has changed over the years especially in its portrayal of comedy, Mishra said, ”not much has changed except for the fact that earlier there was a certain character who used to do comedy in side roles but now that has changed. Today, even heroes are playing a comedy role in films. This stereotype was first changed by Amitabh Bachchan in 70s when he played all kind of roles. Actually it’s very better to play all types of role for a Hero unlike earlier where heroes were playing only particular stereotypical action pack roles. However, one common factor of comedy since ages is to know how to act in a particular situation to make your audience laugh with your appearance and dialogue delivery. ”
Mishra said that another change in the film industry was an advancement in technology which has made things easier for the actors. ”There is a vast change in film industry as earlier we had to give our best in one shot because earlier technology was not well developed and we didn’t wanted to waste many films so lot of patience and discipline was required. But now everything is digitalised with advanced technology , so actors take 14-15 retakes for a shot to get their best,” he says. As an actor, Mishra said he looked upon Amitabh Bachan, Nasiruddin Shah and Irfan khan as inspiration. ”I look upon Amitabh Bachan, Nasiruddin Shah and Irfan khan as inspiration. They are book of acting,” he said. Asked about his upcoming projects, Mishra said he would be seen in ‘Kaamyaab’, ‘Death on Sunday’ and ‘Gadvi. Co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh.
