SRINAGAR, June 23: Speaker, Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone today visited various areas of Sonawari and Pattan constituencies and took stock of the people’s problems and developmental needs.
While inspecting Water Supply Scheme (WSS), Souqual, Shalbug, the Speaker instructed the Chief Engineer PHE for immediate formulation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of another Water Supply Scheme at Shalbugh to cater the drinking water facility in the area. He directed concerned authorities that detailed project report in this regard should be submitted to the Government for accord of funds at the earliest.
The Speaker during his tour visited Shalbugh, Khursepora, Sumbal and other adjoining areas of Sonawari assured the people that all their genuine demands and developmental needs would be redressed on priority, adding that providing improved basic amenities to the masses of the State was commitment of the Government.
Interacting with the people, the Speaker said that the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken numerous reformative and bold initiatives for revitalization of all round development of the State, with special focus for socio-economic upliftment of weaker sections of the society.
Mr. Lone said that to push forward the developmental process under core sectors in rural areas the implementation of various flagship programmes are apace for upgrading infrastructure facilities.
Earlier, the Speaker addressed party workers meeting at Shalbugh and said that the National Conference has always worked for the welfare and betterment of the State, especially people living in far flung and remote areas. He said that the contribution of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for the cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir State would be remembered for ever.
Former MP Abdul Rasheed Shaheen also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the present government registered for overall development of the State.
