All steps required for restoration of peace will be taken: LG

Won’t stop till J&K fully integrated into India’

Neighbour trying to weaken unity, integrity

JAMMU, Oct 28: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today declared that whatever steps are required for restoration of permanent peace in Jammu and Kashmir will be taken and that statements of certain persons can’t force them to drag their feet. Without naming Pakistan, he charged the neighbour with trying to weaken unity and integrity of India after having failed to fight direct war with the country and realizing the results of 1965 and 1971 conflicts.

Addressing a function at tourist resort of Patnitop this afternoon, Sinha said the neighbour realized after 1965 and 1971 direct wars that it can’t fight with India.
“So it (Pakistan) started making efforts to weaken unity and integrity of the country,” he asserted referring to involvement of the neighbouring country in fanning trouble in Jammu and Kashmir.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan’s role is quite visible in recent targeted civilian killings including non-locals in the Kashmir valley. Eleven civilians including labourers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been killed by the militants resulting into fear psychosis among the civilians especially the minorities and non-locals leading to their migration.
Sinha declared that the Government won’t stop till Jammu and Kashmir is fully integrated into India.
The Lieutenant Governor said the Government doesn’t believe in buying peace but will restore peace permanently in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We don’t believe in buying peace. We want to establish peace permanently in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
And for restoration of permanent peace, the Government will take whatever steps which are required.
“Whatever measures are required for the purpose of restoration of peace in the Union Territory will be taken,” Sinha declared.
Without naming any political leaders including National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti, the Lieutenant Governor said statements from certain quarters can’t force the Government to hold back its steps aimed at restoration of peace in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Farooq Abdullah had recently stated that the Government should hold talks with Pakistan while Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his four-day visit to the Union Territory made it clear that the talks will be held only with the youth and people of Jammu and Kashmir and not Pakistan.
Sinha reiterated that these were not the Kabalies (tribals) but regular Pakistan army personnel who had attacked Kashmir and resorted to barbarism in Baramulla in October 1947.
“There were not the Kabalies but Pakistan army in their disguise which attacked Baramulla on October 22, 1947 and resorted to worst kind of atrocities on women and children in Baramulla,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Asserting that humanity will repent what happened in Baramulla in October 1947, he said it should be written in the history that the attackers were not Kabalies but Pakistan army personnel and they perpetrated worst kind of atrocities on the people including women and children in Baramulla.
“The first Indian military aircraft landed at Srinagar airfield on October 27, 1947,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that the Indian Army bravehearts had fought the Pakistan army and chased away them from the soil of Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor was in Patnitop in connection with Iconic Tourism Week celebrations which are going on across Jammu and Kashmir. The functions being held at tourist resort of Patnitop have drawn heavy rush of tourists.
