JAMMU, Jan 8: All Teachers Association, J&K has submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha seeking closure of the schools in view of increasing cases of Covid-19 and threat of Omicron pandemic spread.
Mrignayani Slathia, president of the Association, has submitted the memorandum on behalf of the teaching community and sought attention of the Lt Governor towards the risk to which the teachers and the students are being exposed through Government not ordering closure of schools despite increasing cases of Covid-19.
“Sir, I hereby submit that the teachers have had to undertake long distance journeys to attend to their schools and as such they get exposed to threat of contacting Corona Virus during travel as well. Since no fruitful and unavoidable work is presently being taken from the teaching community, they should not have been forcibly exposed to threat of contacting Corona virus unreasonably by making them to attend to the schools, particularly when the students are asked not to come to the schools,” reads the memorandum.
The memorandum further says that the teachers are ready to volunteer themselves for any kind of fruitful duties assigned to them during this hour of emergency, but unless and until they are assigned any specific task to deal with the present situation, they should be restrained from attending their regular duties in order to prevent community transfer of Corona Virus.
“We have already lost our colleagues during the cruel first two waves due to the casual approach of the administration. These nation-builders must not be taken for granted,” said the Association hoping for a benevolent consideration by the Lt Governor.
