Allegations of torture of youth baseless: SSP

KISHTWAR, Apr 20: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abrar Chowdhary said that the torture and brutalities on a youth of Keshwan is baseless, fabricated and a concocted story.
“The medical report furnished by the doctors attending upon the youth identified as Akhtar Hussain, son of Ali Mohammad Hajjam of Keshwan in GMC Hospital Jammu has ruled out the presence of any injuries on the body of Akhtar Hussain. The medical report has confirmed the presence of ligature mark, therefore an attempt to hanging by the youth”, he added.
He informed that Akhtar Hussain to whom torture and brutalities are alleged was called in Police Station Kishtwar on April 18 in connection with the investigation of a missing case. During the questioning by a team of officers he requested to visit toilet where he attempted to hang himself by tying his belt with the toilet door accessories by closing the same from behind. The alertness and timely action of police initially and the doctors later on however saved him, SSP added.
