JAMMU, Apr 1: Government today said that fresh notices will be served to those allottees of the residential plots at Roop Nagar Housing Colony who have not started constructions till date.
In reply to the question of Bharat Bhushan, MLA from Domana, Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigjin Jora admitted that many residential plots, which were duly handed over to the allottees have been lying vacant without construction in the Roop Nagar Housing Colony, adding “the responsibility of the construction on the plots is that of the allottees”.
However, Bharat Bhushan said, “this indicates that these allottees were not in the need of plots and they have been waiting for the opportunities to sell the same on exorbitant rates” and asked what steps the Government was taking to ensure construction on the plots.
On this, the Minister said, “notices are being issued to the allottees from time to time. The last notice was served in 2012 and we will issue fresh notices also so that allottees start construction and the purpose of setting up of housing colony is achieved”.
Mr Jora said that provisions have been made for facilities such as school, primary health centre, library and recreational club-cum-community hall etc.
